Simplifying The Season- Ways To Destress During The Holidays (Blogmas Day 12)

Hey y'all! We are 12 days into blogmas and that means we only have 13 left before Christmas. What?! I feel like we're just getting started


Today I wanted to give you some ways on how to take a step back and de-stress if you're feeling overwhelmed this holiday season. Don't get me wrong, I love the entire Christmas hustle and bustle and alot of times it can be fun decking the halls but it can be a little too demanding when if feels like you have a never ending list of things to do.

Below are three simple ways you can unwind and simplify your Christmas this year:

1- It's Ok To Say "No"

You don't have to go to every holiday party you're invited to. Remember that it's totally ok to say no so you don't have too much on your plate. Call it a night early and unwind with relaxing at home- use that time to rest and replenish yourself the best way you know how. For me, that's heading to sleep earlier (YAS HUNTY!), journaling or reading a book.

2- Find Something You Enjoy

This is the season for giving but don't forget to take care of yourself as well! Find something you enjoy doing and opt in for that instead to help keep stress levels at bay. I recommend doing this daily, as a mama we're used to putting everything and everyone before us... take some time to treat yo' self!

3- Be Realistic With Your Time

One thing I see all too often with my mama friends is overcommitment of time. It's completely natural to want to extend a helping hand to those who need you but when your schedule is so full that you're running around darting from meeting to meeting and involved with so much that you start forgetting or half doing jobs you commited too it's time to cut some things out. Take a look at your day and find your spare time within that. Be open to helping within that time frame of free space and be firm with dates and times that coincide with other activities you have going on. If you have to turn projects down, be honest in letting them know that the time you have isn't enough to give (inset task here) the attention it deserves. Trust me your friends will understand and appreciate your honesty!

A big one to also mention is to stop worrying! Sometimes things have a funny way of working themselves out. Worrying doesn't bring productivity to your life so why do it? Tis the season for joy and peace- let this be a reminder for you that joy and peace is going to be the mindset for you- not stress. Enjoy this Christmas season for what it is and refocus on what really matters during this time of year.
