Hey Y'all!

Today Is Blogmas Day 16, how excited are you that Christmas is just a few days away now? Now that the big day is getting closer im sure youre doing alot more baking. Though this recipe isn't one that goes in the oven, this can be a topping for so many delicious baked goods. I love eating apple butter and smothering it on all kinds of things, but I have to be honest in noting that I've never made it before. I'm so glad to report that whipping up some apple butter from home couldn't be easier since you can throw all the ingredients in your crockpot- It's a win win for any busy momma. Below is the recipe on how to create your own apple butter straight from your kitchen.

Here's What You'll Need:

3lb Of Red Delicious Apples

1/4 Cup Of Brown Sugar

1 Tsp Cinnamon

1 Tsp Allspice

1 Tsp Nutmeg

*Vanilla Extract To Taste*

  • First things first, prep your apples by peeling and cutting them into chunks and putting them into your crockpot. If you don't have a peeler, don't worry! I used a blender  and a touch of almond milk to get the apples smooth enough so the skin wouldn't be annoying to eat. 
  • Once your apples are in the crockpot- add in your sugar, spices and vanilla to taste and give it a good stir.

And honestly, you're basically done! If your apples are still chunky, it's going to be in the crockpot for at least 6-10 hrs... If blended, 2-3! Prep time for me was between 15-20min total and you'll know when it's done when it'll be completely smooth- this is definitely something I can see myself making for the family in the future. I love that it's healthy and virtually guilt free when you want to eat it by the spoonful (or is that just me?) . 

Once your apple butter is done, dress it up in some mason jars to store for the upcoming days even though it probably won't last long!
