We're about to embark on a super exciting milestone for Isaiah, and that's getting him prepped to start eating some solids! I thought it would be fun to share my thoughts on how we'll be going about feeding him as well as sharing some first foods ideas I have in mind that I think he's really going to like. Here we go!
So first off I wanted to mention that I will be primarily making my own baby food for little man. I was gifted a baby bullet at my baby shower from my grandmother who is the QUEEN of making healthy smoothies and juices. My husband and I take our health very seriously, we're actually vegetarians! I still like my doughnuts, but for the most part we do try to stock up on our veggies and balance our meals with healthy greens. With that being said, making Isaiah's food was a no brainer for me. Here are a few "first foods" I'm planning on trying out:
A great recommendation from my mom who started not only myself, but my siblings on this as well. Pinterest is flooded with recipes on how to make your own - excited for him to try it!
Another recomendation from my mom. I'm really excited on this one because I can make a great crock pot apple butter and feel like it's fairly the same thing just a little more blended. Sweet apples are oh so good, I'm sure Isaiah will take to this recipe really well.
I saw this on the reccomended food list for 4-6 month olds and thought this was an awesome "green veggie" to start him off on. Not too sure how to make it yet, I'm guessing boiling the beans and then pureeing it? Let me know in the comments if that's the right thing to do!
Another veggie I'm really excited to try. I feel like sweet potatoes are the best of both worlds- he gets the sweet and the veggie all in one. Not sure if you're able to throw in a little bit of spice when it comes to baby food but I would love to add some cinnamon to the mix. I'll be sure to research it before I give anything to him though!
Of course life isn't always how you plan it and I'm fully prepared with a couple of backups just in case I don't have a chance to make his food for the week. These two companies are all natural, and make recipes that are organic and good for baby! If you are in the market for honestly made baby food, look no further than these two companies below.
Baby food blends- Little Spoon
I am so smitten with this company already! I love what they stand for and can't wait to make my first order with them. Little Spoon is USDA certified organic as well as non GMO verified as well! It's optimized nutrition supports brain, eye and immune health and is designed for your baby specifically with a "blueprint" of recommended food just for them. They have unique blends for baby to try like Chia Seed, Mango, and Coconut Milk ; Quinoa, Butternut Squash, Kale and Apple sounds so good too! Check out their website over at littlespoon.com
baby food pouches- Once Upon A Farm
Once Isaiah gets a bit older I plan on packing these food pouches into our routine for when we are on the go. Once Upon A Farm has been a company I've had my eye on since I was pregnant. I can't wait to try them out. Just like Little Spoon they are USDA certified organic as well as non GMO approved. They make food pouches with baby in mind only stuffing the freshest of ingredients in them. I love how they ship right to your door conveniently and have some of the yummiest flavors divided into three stages for your babe. They even have a dessert pouch?! Yeah, I'm totally tasting the Caroberry Mousse which includes Strawberry, Bananas, Dates, Coconut Milk and Carob Powder. Yum! Visit them over at onceuponafarmorganics.com
