Over the last few years the Dockatot has became a household name for many mamas around the world. I had first heard about this company before I was pregnant thanks to the lovely youtube mamas I watched often. During my own pregnancy last year I was so close to getting one myself, but opted for the Boppy Newborn Lounger instead. It was decent when my son was a newborn but he quickly grew out of it and was in need of something bigger but still lounge worthy since he has yet to sit up. We received our Deluxe+ Dock complementary from the company to review and I couldn't be more excited to work with them in bringing you an honest takeaway of this product from a mama who was looking for something versatile for her son. So glad to say that I finally found it!
First off, my son LOVES this baby lounger. There is something about the design that has him smitten with sleeping with it. The Dockatot is not meant for being inside of the crib but used as more as a lounger on the bed, couch or floor. We love cuddling up in bed as a family and the Dockatot gives him his own little space to stay safe and secure. We got the pristine white color but the Dock a tot comes in a variety of patterns and colors it's hard to pick just one! Made with non heat absorbing okeo- tex certified materials the dockatot is the perfect companion for co-sleeping due to it being so breathable for baby. My son likes to practice on his tummy time in this and I love how the Dock is so portable allowing me to move it room to room when we need a change of scenery! The cover is washable but I have yet to experience washing and putting it back on again, heard it wasn't so bad though. Will come back and update this review on how that part of the experience turned out! I can tell how much more comfortable my son is in the dockatot verses the boppy newborn lounger. Now that he isn't a newborn he would prefer to stretch out his legs and kick the day away. The dockatot supports his growth with having the option of unbuckling the bottom to make room for his legs if need be since I can see him being in between sizes for a while. The next size is the "grand" made for older babies from 9 to 36 months.
I knew I was going to like the Dockatot from it's amazing reviews from mamas before me but I didn't think I was going to like it this much and for one very specific reason I was not aware of. My son was recently diagnosed with brachycephaly, a form of plagiocephaly most commonly known as "flat head syndrome". We'll be soon moving in the direction of getting him into a helmet but in the mean time we are doing our best with trying to correct it at home. One of the ways to reverse flat head is to increase tummy time which I already noted before that the Dockatot is perfect for, but another reason why I absolutely love this product is that it actually helps babies prevent/ correct plagiocephaly due to it's unique design! Where baby's head rests, the Dockatot actually is formed in a "hammock style" fashion where it does not put any extra pressure on baby's head thus taking the stress out of worrying if your baby can develop this condition! My heart wishes I knew this sooner to prevent my son from going through numerous cranial appointments- for all of you mamas to be, this is definitely worth looking into and much cheaper than a helmet! All in all we are so happy to have this beautiful luxury lounger in our lives. Visit Dockatot over on their website and Instagram page for purchase and some seriously cute photos!
