Roadtrips this spring are something the entire family can enjoy now with a few simple necessities to keep the fidgets away! My family and I recently took a road trip to Fort Worth, TX - almost three hours away from our home and my five month old son did fantastic! Of course I got some pointers since this was his first trip over from our awesome instagram fam but there are a few things I threw in myself that I think really helped him out. If you are taking a trip soon this season, keep a few of these things in mind!
Toys, toys, toys: I brought along with us plenty of toys/ activities for my son to play with during our trip. Once he got bored I simply switched out the item he was playing with for another one! He's only five months but the boy LOVES to be entertained. Rattles, crinkle books, play keys, washcloths, teethers and stuffed animals are some of his favorite things right now and played a big hand in him staying calm during the car ride.
Comfy Clothing: Who wants to sit in the same spot for hours on end AND be uncomfortable? I figured my son would want to ride in style with a cozy pair of pj's on him. Not sure if he honestly didn't care or it really helped but he was able to play and snooze during our travel time without much of a fuss. It was nice to know he had something that was familiar made him feel safe nearby. Not to mention that zip up footies are such a win when you're doing a pit stop diaper change- Y'all know how it is changing a baby in the backseat of your car!
Books: Isaiah got such a kick out of me exaggerating each word of the books I brought him. He thought it was so funny! It's a great form of entertainment especially since I'm not trying to put him in front of tv or movies to much if I can help it! Stock up on a variety of books from the library to read on your next adventure. Such a lifesaver!
