I'm the proud owner of my own personal capsule wardrobe and I'm so pumped to be doing this blog for you this morning. Today I'll be sharing some tips on what a capsule wardrobe is, why it's AMAZING for mamas and how you can get started one of your very own; keep reading to find out more!
What Is A Capsule Wardrobe?
A capsule wardrobe is a set amount of clothing designed to coincide with one another effortlessly. It's minimal and functional for what every day life looks like for you! I've been maintaining my personal capsule wardrobe for the past five years and it has been so helpful with getting ready in a reasonable amount of time- I don't like to take forever! I'm in the process of updating my pieces and splitting my wardrobe into two sets: spring/summer and fall/winter. I keep my capsule under 20 pieces with 10 tops, 5 bottoms and 5 shoes for each set, not including dress/ formal clothes or old tshirts that are awesome for cleaning or doing work around the house in (I only have one formal and one party dress with a pair of heels to match both).
How Can A Capsule Wardrobe Be Useful To Me As A Mom?
If your days are jammed packed like mine, You'll be grateful that you don't have to obsess over what to wear. All of the pieces you pick out are designed to be "universal" so no matter what you pair it with, essentially it should match together! It's kind of like coming up with your own collection for yourself that is tailored to you and your style.
For me I like to stick with the same colors and style of clothing. Comfy and cute is what I go for! I like to look put together, but I don't want to feel uncomfortable! Below are some examples of capsules that I've found via pinterest. If you're looking for some ideas on how to get started, this link will be helpful for you!
How Do I Get Started In Making One Of My Own?
I would set aside a few hours to go through your clothing and get rid of anything that is old, not something you are wearing or no longer interested in anymore. Be honest and don't be afraid to let go of items that can be better worn elsewhere. I love donating to ThredUp where you can actually get $$$ back for your clothing that you sell to them!
When building your wardrobe, it is dependent on what you need and want from your own personal look. A capsule is designed to be small and multi functional so keep that in mind! I like shopping at places like Old Navy, ThredUp, Target and Walmart to find affordable clothing that is still really cute to help fill in the extra clothing items to make your wardrobe complete. I've even seen ladies make "year round" capsule wardrobes where any item they have can be great for any weather day they are having- a great idea if you're not that into shopping.
