Summer is just around the corner and I'm pretty sure you're ready to start mapping out some activities to do with you and the kids. Here is a list of fun family activities you can do together this summer and actually enjoy. Let me know which one is your favorite in the comments below!
Baseball Game: Nothing says summer like a good ol' baseball game! Gather up the family to enjoy a fun night watching this sport. Get involved for rooting for your favorite team, eating some hot dogs and snapping some photos.
Pool Day: Swimming is a summer time favorite! If you don't have a pool, you can buy or visit one to have some fun. Go all out on pool toys, floats and activities that you can only do in the water. Have fun gathering together and cooling off!
Tour The City: Put on those walking shoes and explore the downtown area in your city. Look up historical markers and walk down famous streets- talk about the unique places that make your home special! You can even share what place was memorable with each member of the family!
Family Picnic: Parks are so much fun during the summer. Get outside and have lunch by the play ground!
Window Shopping: Have fun walking around stores and window shopping with the family- we love to window shop and fuel up at the food court afterwards!
Dinner Outdoors: Fire up the grill and have dinner outside as a family.
Indoor Game Night: Have everyone pick their favorite board game and take turns playing each one- include fun snacks and music to make it a night to remember!
Homemade Pizza Making: This activity is SO FUN, especially for the kids! Gather up ingredients to make your own pizza creation. Allow lots of topping options for a fun family dinner.
Movie Marathon: Who doesn't like a good movie day? Stay in your pajamas, pick out some movies with the same theme and get cozy in some blankets! We do Disney, 90's Family and Inspirational movie days all the time!
Volunteer Project: This is one of my favorites! There are so many organizations that need help during the summer that allow kids to get involved as well. Try your local animal shelter, food pantry and soup kitchen to give back to others!
Ice Cream Run: (See photo above - haha!) Summer and ice cream goes together like peanut butter and jelly! We sometimes go out for a treat and grab a cone or popsicle. It can be anything from Chick-Fil-A cones or a fun local spot.
Family History Project: I think this would be something fun if your looking for your kids to stay busy. Gather up some family photos and have each child interview a family member in the group of photos. You can make it official with having them write an essay and present it sharing about who they learned about!
