Lately I've been really into finding learning activities for my son to engage in and enjoy during the day. This just may be my baby, but I noticed that since he's hit the eight month mark he has gotten extremely bored with just playing with toys for an extended amount of time. I honestly don't blame him, I would want some more entertainment during the day too! If you can relate to wanting your baby to have a bit more stimulation, below is a list of our favorite activities to engage in for 6- 8 month olds. Let me know what activities you're planning to try below!
-DIY Playdoh: I made a simple and edible "play doh" for Isaiah using equal parts of flour, water and coconut oil. I even used a bit of a leftover sweet potato baby food pouch to add some color. My son had so much fun playing with it! To store, put in a air tight container and warm in the microwave for a few seconds when you're ready to play with it again.
-Pot And Pan Drumming: I honestly think I may have a little drummer on my hands because my son loves to make his own beats with just a cooking pot and a wooden spoon. You can get as creative as you want with adding a few bowls or giving different cooking utensils such as a plastic spoon or a whisk to have them use. This allows them to make their own music as well as work on their hand- eye coordination!
-Toy Dig: This activity is messy but really fun! Get some corn meal and in a aluminum baking pan place a few small toys inside and them pour the corn meal over it. Have your baby search for the toys you buried and watch their brains really get to work. My son had seen the toys I hid a bunch of times but his face looked like he had struck gold when he was able to dig them out!
-Edible Finger Painting: Mix some greek yogurt and some food coloring together to make some fun finger paints for baby! I have Isaiah paint on his high chair tray and he has such a fun time- if your baby like to put everything in their mouth you wont have to worry about this one!
-Water Play: Perfect for the summer, this is a great way for your baby to cool off! I just place a few bath toys in a tub, fill it up with water and have it go for it!
Hope y'all have fun during playtime!
