So glad to finally share our long awaited mom and baby night time routine. I did do just a baby night time routine a few months back with Isaiah- if you're interested in reading that just click HERE. For him not much has changed but balancing getting us BOTH ready for bed has had its challenges. Definitely something that has taken a lot of trial and error but I'm glad to have found something that works for us! Without prolonging this to much lets just jump into it!
Our Bedtime Routine Starts Between 5:00- 5:30 When Isaiah Wakes Up From His Last Nap Of The Day.
As soon as Zay gets up we do a quick diaper change and then head out into the living room for a bit of free play time. Throughout the day, Isaiah has the first part of the morning to do free play and then after is structured activities for him; so he always loves just having time to interact with his toys on his own. Lately I have been putting on the Daniel Tiger soundtrack to play in the background while he discovers and learns. He looovees music and is obsessed with Daniel Tiger, so he really likes it! While Isaiah is playing, I'm usually finishing up dinner and washing dishes. Sometimes I'll have youtube playing in the background for me while I'm cooking to catch up on some of my fav youtube mamas. They give such great info and helpful tips and I'm always a fan of that!
6:00PM: This is the time that my husband is usually getting home and we start dinner together right away. Isaiah is sitting in his high chair to eat and whatever we're having he usually has a modified version of it! We love making healthy meals that will fuel our bodies well and are hoping Isaiah will learn the importance of good health and nutrition by watching us.
6:30PM: I usually finish my food first and wash up all the dishes that were made prior. I go ahead and grab Isaiah and get started on running his bath. Shawn will finish his food up and help out with washing any extra dishes along with Zay's food tray- thanks babe!
6:45PM: Isaiah's favorite part of the day- BATH TIME!!! We just got some fun Nuby bath toys and this kid loves to splash around and play in the tub. We still use and love our Tubby Todd bath products for him during bath time, they smell so good and it feels amazing to know good products are being used on his skin! We have the hair and body wash, conditioner, detangler and dream cream lotion and last for a really long time too!
I learned recently how important a little bit of self-care is especially as a mom running after a baby all day. That's why when Isaiah is playing in the tub, I whip out my Smile Brilliant kit and do a whitening session while watching my son. Who knew it could be this easy to squeeze in some time for myself ?! I know I can only be the best me for my son if I take the time to take care of myself and Smile Brilliant offers an amazing way to help give me my BEST smile.
If you're not familiar with Smile Brilliant, they are an awesome company that offers a convenient teeth whitening kit that is completely customized to your exact teeth shape so that way you can get the best results from your session. It was really easy to have my custom-fitted trays made, shipped and designed to fit my mouth and I'm feeling like I'm getting professional services right from the comfort of my home. During bath time, I just apply my teeth whitening gel and pop my trays in, one whitening session lasts for around 30 min which is exactly how long bath time is- Y'all we both leave the bathroom feeling fresh and bright! Below is a shot of my before and after results after a few weeks of using the system. Smile Brilliant is easy, effective and perfect for even those who experience tooth sensitivity like me! 7:15 PM: I go ahead and rinse my mouth from the whitening session and grab Isaiah out of the tub. I get him dried off and into some soft, clean pajamas! He gets one more bottle along with a story and it's off to sleep for little man by 7:30!
Once Isaiah is alseep, I do a quick clean up of our bathroom and put all of his bath toys away. I get changed into my pajamas and back out into the kitchen to put any finishing touches on cleaning that needs to be done. By the time I'm done it's usually around 8PM
8:30PM: I like to unwind with a hot drink and a good book at night so I like to make some tea and cuddle up with a good read. Right now I'm diving into "How To Raise A Wild Child" and it's so good!
I really make it a point to stay on track but our days can go crazy some days, what are some things you like to do at night to unwind? Let me know below!
